![]() ![]() Intratonsillar abscess is characterized by formation of abscess in the parenchyma of the tonsil. Tonsillitis is a common pharyngeal infection in children and young adults, however intratonsillar abscess is a rare complication associated with it. ITA: Intratonsillar Abscess WBC: White Blood Cell Count Intratonsillar abscess, Needle aspiration, Tonsillectomy The primary treatment modality in our cases involved needle aspiration with post-procedural antibiotics. The following case series summarizes three cases of intratonsillar abscess that presented to our centre and their management. CT scan is useful to confirm the presence of an ITA. ![]() Despite its rarity ITA should be considered in the differential diagnosis of Peritonsillar abscess and Tonsillitis. Intratonsillar abscess (ITA) is a rarely reported clinical entity in both children and adults. ![]()
